Event description

Reliable, accessible and appropriately disaggregated statistics are essential for monitoring commitments towards gender equality, such as the Beijing Platform for Action, the Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UN Women, in collaboration with National Statistical Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), is organizing the Regional Conference on Gender Statistics: challenges and opportunities to report on Sustainable Development Goals. The conference is dedicated to 100 Years’ Anniversary of the National Statistics office of Georgia and to mark 20 Years of Collecting the Gender Statistics.

The two-day event aims to enhance the knowledge and share the best practices and experiences on improving data and evidence for gender policies. It will take stock of the practices and strategies for SDGs nationalization, effective communication of gender data, and progress made by countries to fulfill data gaps on gender-related SDGs indicators.

The conference will bring together high-level representatives of the National Statistical Offices of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia countries, delegates of international organizations, data users, including representatives from policy making, civil society and media. The attendees of the conference are from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, France, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
